Crème brûlée |
This delicious Crème brûlée Recipe is a classic French dessert made with a custard base and a caramelized sugar crust. It's a popular dessert for special occasions and is sure to impress your guests.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 6 large egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
- In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, and 1/2 cup sugar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- In a heatproof bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and vanilla extract. Gradually whisk in the hot cream mixture until smooth.
- Pour the custard mixture into six 6-ounce ramekins. Place the ramekins in a baking dish and pour enough hot water into the baking dish to come halfway up the sides of the ramekins.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the custard is set but still slightly wobbly in the center.
- Remove the ramekins from the baking dish and let cool completely.
- To make the caramelized sugar crust, sprinkle the granulated sugar evenly over the top of each ramekin of custard.
- Use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar, or place the ramekins under a broiler for a few seconds, watching carefully so the sugar does not burn.
- Let the crème brûlée cool slightly before serving.
Tips:
- For a more intense caramel flavor, use dark brown sugar.
- To make the crème brûlée ahead of time, assemble it as directed, but do not caramelize the sugar. Cover the ramekins with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. When ready to serve, caramelize the sugar and serve immediately.
- The crème brûlée can also be frozen for up to 2 months. When ready to serve, thaw overnight in the refrigerator and caramelize the sugar before serving.
Enjoy!
